Riverton Woman to be Honored by Boys & Girls Club
Riverton – A fearless leader within the community will be honored at a breakfast event in April. Mary Margaret Stockton is the driving force behind some major initiatives in Fremont County. Because of her courageous spirit and the impact her work has had on Riverton, she was chosen as the honoree at the Inaugural Recognition Breakfast to support a Boys & Girls Club in Riverton. The Breakfast will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at the Fremont Center, Fremont County Fairgrounds in Riverton. It will feature a special presentation to Ms. Stockton, along with a keynote address by former major league pitcher, Dave Dravecky. Doors will open at 6:15 am, a breakfast buffet begins at 6:30 am, and the program starts at 7 am. There is no cost to attend the Breakfast, but all those in attendance will be asked to make a contribution in support of a Boys & Girls Club in Riverton.
Mary Margaret served as the business manager of her husband, Kent’s family practice group, Western Family Care, for more than 40 years. Her passion for access to medical care led to the formation of Help for Health, the Health van, and more recently growth into a Hospice facility. She was a member of a tireless group of citizens that made the CWC Fine Arts Center a reality. Her service on the board of the Wyoming Community Bank has cemented her belief that businesses can and do make communities better places to live, work and raise families.
Special guest speaker, Dave Dravecky shares a story of hope, courage, and perseverance in the midst of dark and overwhelming uncertainty. In 1988, Dave Dravecky was at the top of his game with a family, and a career playing for the San Francisco Giants. His opening day victory over the Dodgers was shadowed however by the discovery of cancer and removal of half of the deltoid muscle in his pitching arm. Dravecky shares how his battle with cancer eventually took his arm and stole his childhood dream, but it also gave him a powerful platform to share hope with the world. Dave focuses on having hope and how we define our true worth.
All donations contributed as part of this event will go toward the opening of a Boys & Girls Club in Riverton. The Boys & Girls Club offers out of school programming to youth in a safe environment with positive adult mentors. Reservations for the breakfast are requested.
