Red Roof Meat Company Newsletter: Farm Party

FARM NEWSLETTER – 22 MAY 2023: FARM PARTY Well, Sunday was beautiful day for our herdshare appreciation party. Warm, but a gentle breeze and lots of shade. Lots of old friends and some new faces. The party ran a little late, but food and drinks held out.

A few weeks ago, if you’ll recall, the Fremont Local Market held a potlatch dinner for anyone interested in attending. What we found in that event was very much what we’ve seen in our own farm gatherings…there is, within the local food movement a new community being formed. People are connecting over locally grown food!

I’ve often said that the local food movement is led by young mothers as they are generally the one’s most concerned with the health of their families and so gravitate towards locally produced, nutrient rich foods. That may remain true, but participation is broadening as the local food movement also harkens back to the Jeffersonian ideal that stresses independence and self-sufficiency, and resonates with those who wish to push back against government intrusion into their lives. There too is a deep appreciation for our roles as stewards of the land we’ve inherited.

This is the kind of community we all want to be part of. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your lives. And, thank you for the spirited conversations we got to enjoy with you at our farm.

Regards, Steve

Dear Herdshare Owners,

Just a few things:

Little farm update – we have 23 lambs and 16 calves on the ground with 2 more ewes and 3 cows left to deliver for the season.

It was a great 2nd Annual Herdshare Farm Party. Thank you so much to all those who were able to make it, and for those who couldn’t make it this year we hope to see you next year!

For the Riverton folks I will be at the Riverton Wednesday Farmers Market on May 24th from 5 – 7 pm at Riverton City Park. (I do apologize for being so late for this week's email. If you do not have adequate time to place an order for Wednesday I can bring your order to the Fremont Local Market to be picked up at any time!)

For the Lander folks I can deliver to the corner of 2nd St. and Main St. at 8:30am on Saturday the 27th.

NOTE* We are now on Facebook!!

Please like and follow us at Red Roof Meat Company!

Our farm has been very fortunate to attract a number of wonderful customers who share the same vision as us in terms of values…not simply value. We also recognize that this market relationship is not for everybody. If that’s the case with you, please let us know. We’ll be happy to buy back your share and reimburse your five dollars – or even a pound of ground beef if you prefer – and take you off our email list.

I have assorted beef cuts and dog treats available at Fremont Local Market (Open 10am – 6pm Tuesday through Sunday).

524 E. Main St. in Riverton – The old Flea Market Building
