POTLUCK DINNER AT FREMONT LOCAL MARKET - REVISITED
Fremont Local Market’s potluck dinner was a success! Really, especially
as we went forward with minimum advertising, no game plan and, per usual, a
shoestring budget.
The food was exquisite. Sausages, and BBQ, meatballs, egg dishes and
lots of vegetables, roasted chicken and homemade wine that was a real treat.
This was an opportunity to come
together as a community and break bread.
But there was more in store:
Senator Salazar gave us a rundown on the latest developments on
Wyoming’s Local Food amendments (only one dissenting vote on the bill suggests
that our legislators understand the importance of local food). Also in attendance was Riverton’s mayor, Tim
Hancock, who is a staunch booster of Fremont Local Market (his children sell
sweets through the store). Lastly, Dr.
Brad Tyndall presented the economic case for locally sourced foods. It’s a no-brainer.
On a similar topic, please RSVP for our farm party scheduled for May 21. Like last week’s affair it is an opportunity for you to meet and talk with other people, like yourselves, who have a strong interest in building a healthy community through healthy food and healthy farms. I think we have about 20 folks signed up so far and we have enough to feed far more.

Dear Herdshare Owners,
Just a few things:
Little farm update – we have 23 lambs and 15 calves on the ground with 2 more ewes and 4 cows left to deliver for the season.
You are cordially invited to this year’s 2nd Annual Herdshare Farm Party.
The party will be May 21st from 1-4pm.
What to expect - lunch, farm tours, and a chance to see your animals at a family friendly event!
Please RSVP as soon as you can so we can plan accordingly!
For the Riverton folks I will be at the Riverton Wednesday Farmers Market on May 3rd. This is the first one of the season, from 5 – 7 pm at Riverton City Park.
For the Lander folks I can have someone deliver to the Lander farmers market from 1 to 3 pm at the VFW on Saturday the 29th.
